About SEAS (Seeking Equity and Success)

Seeking Equity and Success (SEAS) is a marine science graduate school organization that was founded after the murder of George Floyd to be a safe space for discussions. We are unapologetically black and devoted to increasing racial diversity in the sciences. Our conversations occur monthly,  2pm on the last Monday of the month. We hope to see you there ready to share and with an open mind.

SEAS Presents:

Transparency & Accountability

SEAS is working with the university administration to continue momentum and progress on essential equity initiatives. Following is a list of current efforts:

1.  Mandate bias training for the entire University of Miami community

2.  Establish dedicated funding streams for Black, Indigenous, and other students of Color

3.  Expand graduate student recruitment activities to universities and communities to reflect a vision of a more diverse Rosenstiel School

4.  Build tools and programming to support Black, Indigenous, and other students of Color

5.  Diversify faculty search committees by adding student representatives

6.  Measure and report on the racial and gender makeup of the students, faculty, and staff of our campus and make this data easily accessible
